The India Meteorological Department has issued a weather advisory for Jharkhand, predicting light rain in eight districts over February 3 and 4, coupled with temperature swings. This forecast, released Thursday, highlights the impact of a western disturbance creating a low-pressure area over the region.

Northwestern districts—Palamu, Garhwa, Latehar, and Chatra—face showers on Saturday, February 3. Southern areas including East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Simdega, and Saraikela-Kharsawan are next on Sunday, February 4. These rains, though light, could refresh the air but also bring morning haze and fog in select areas, dissipating by midday.

Minimum temperatures are set to drop by 2-3°C initially, stabilizing with a subsequent rise. Over the past 24 hours, Chaibasa topped the charts at 30.8°C maximum, with the state’s lowest at 10.8°C. Ranchi’s readings were 26.8°C max and 15.1°C min; Jamshedpur 29.5°C/16.2°C; Daltonganj 28.8°C/11.6°C; Bokaro 27.5°C/15.1°C; Chaibasa 30.8°C/14.6°C; Khunti 28°C/12.8°C; Lohardaga 27.4°C/13.5°C; Latehar 22.8°C/11.9°C; Saraikela 29.9°C/14°C.

Thursday brought overcast conditions to Ranchi, with cool winds maintaining a nip in the air all day. This pattern reflects broader climatic shifts, where winter lingers even as spring approaches. Local authorities recommend caution for drivers due to potential fog, and farmers should protect crops from unexpected moisture.

Such forecasts are crucial for Jharkhand’s agrarian economy, where timely rain can be a boon, yet sudden changes pose risks. The weather office continues monitoring, promising further bulletins. Residents can expect clearer skies post-weekend, but the fluctuations remind us of the unpredictable nature of regional weather.
