    An anti-Naxal operation was underway on Saturday in the forested border region between the states of Jharkhand and Odisha. Around 9:30 AM, an IED planted by Naxals exploded. Assistant Sub Inspector Satyavan Kumar Singh of the CRPF 134th Battalion was severely injured in the blast. He was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.

    The joint team of security forces was conducting an anti-Naxal search operation on Friday in the forests of the Bolang police station area of Rourkela district, Odisha, bordering Jharkhand. During the operation, an IED suddenly exploded. Assistant Sub Inspector Satyavan Kumar of the CRPF 134th Battalion was seriously injured in the explosion. He was rushed to a hospital in Rourkela, Odisha, where he died during treatment.

    ASI Satyavan Kumar Singh, a resident of Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, was part of the CRPF’s 134th Battalion. He was honored with a state tribute at the headquarters of the CRPF 133rd Battalion in Dhurwa, Ranchi, on Saturday. Following the attack on the Jharkhand-Odisha border, security forces are on high alert in the area, and the search operation has been intensified.

    Previously, there was an encounter between police and Naxals in Chaibasa, under the West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. Constable Sunil Dhan of Jharkhand Jaguar was martyred on April 12, 2025, after being caught in an IED blast. Constable Sunil Dhan was a resident of Khunti district, Jharkhand. Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar, DGP Anurag Gupta, and many senior police officers paid tribute to him at the Jharkhand Jaguar headquarters in Tender Gram, Ranchi.
