Ranchi: Today, on the 69th Mahaparinirvan Diwas (death anniversary) of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, a solemn tribute ceremony was held at Ambedkar Chowk in Doranda, Ranchi. Dr. Ambedkar is widely recognized not just as an individual, but as a towering figure and an unwavering pillar of social justice, equality, and human rights. His vision for a truly equitable society, where every individual, especially those at the margins, receives their due rights, dignity, and opportunities, remains a guiding principle. A pledge was taken during the event to further the ongoing struggle for social justice and equality. The ceremony, organized by the Adivasi-Moolvasi Janadhikar Manch, saw attendees honoring Dr. Ambedkar’s statue with garlands. Central Vice-President of the Manch, Vijay Shankar Nayak, addressing the gathering, highlighted the persistent denial of constitutional rights to marginalized communities in Jharkhand, including Adivasi, Dalit, backward, and weaker sections. He urged the government and administration to implement education, employment, and social security as fundamental rights, strictly enforce tribal rights over land, forest, and water resources, ensure swift action against caste-based discrimination, and anchor governance in the principles of equality and justice enshrined in the Constitution. Nayak emphasized that Dr. Ambedkar’s dream will only be realized when rights, respect, and opportunities reach the last person in society, underscoring that the struggle for this vision is ongoing and requires continued dedication. He further remarked that Dr. Ambedkar gifted self-respect and the light of rights to millions of the deprived and oppressed, and his ideology continues to teach lessons of equality, liberty, and fraternity. The event concluded with a two-minute silence in his memory and a renewed commitment to protect the Constitution and uphold social justice, held in a peaceful and dignified atmosphere.
