A tragic accident occurred in the Koderma Valley today when a school bus carrying students on an educational excursion veered off the road and fell into a ravine. More than fifteen students sustained injuries in the incident. The bus, carrying 75 students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya’s 11th grade, was en route to Rajgir for a scheduled educational trip. The accident happened near the ninth mile mark in Koderma Valley. Reports indicate the bus collided with the rear of a speeding truck while attempting to overtake it, causing it to lose control and tumble down the embankment. The driver also suffered injuries. Local residents were the first to discover the overturned bus and alerted the patrolling police vehicle in the valley. Emergency services, including 108 ambulances, were immediately dispatched to the scene. All injured students were transported to the Koderma Sadar Hospital for treatment, where their condition is being monitored. The school principal confirmed that educational tours are an annual event designed to expose students to historical sites. However, following this unfortunate event, the trip has been canceled, and all students, including the injured, have been returned to the school. One injured student recounted the terrifying moments, describing the sudden collision and the ensuing panic. Other students and teachers from a second school bus traveling in convoy rushed to assist and brought the injured to the hospital. District officials, including Deputy Commissioner Ritu Raj, visited the hospital to assess the situation and extend support to the affected students. The Deputy Commissioner expressed sorrow over the accident, noting that while some students sustained serious injuries, most suffered minor ones. He has instructed hospital authorities to provide the best possible medical care and ensure continuous updates on the students’ recovery. Local MLA Dr. Neera Yadav also contacted medical staff to ensure prompt and adequate medical attention for all students, wishing them a speedy recovery. Among those injured are Sonali Kumari, Khushi Kumari, Khushboo Kumari, Aradhya Datta, Anshu Kumari, Preeti Kumari, Asha Kumari, Gudiya Kumari, Gayatri Kumari, Muskan Kumari, Monika Kumari, Saniya Parveen, Mahi Kumari, Prema Kumari, driver Ramesh Yadav, and co-driver Sanjay Singh.
