Jhumri Tilaiya town is receiving a significant boost in its cleanliness initiatives, spearheaded by Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Riya Singh. The Municipal Council has revitalized its door-to-door waste collection campaign, aiming to strengthen sanitation across all 28 wards. Under SDO Singh’s guidance, the process of collecting household waste has commenced in areas like Chitragupta Nagar, with an ambitious target of connecting 27,000 households to this system by December.

The launch has generated palpable enthusiasm among residents for a cleaner environment. Municipal Administrator Ankit Gupta highlighted that SDO Riya Singh has been instrumental in conducting sanitation awareness drives in key locations such as Water Tank Road, Block Road, and Chitragupta Nagar. To further enhance the campaign’s reach, all waste collection tipper vehicles are now equipped with a distinctive ‘Kachra Nikaliye’ (Dispose of Waste) sound. This auditory signal will alert citizens as vehicles approach their neighborhoods, encouraging participation.

Gupta also confirmed that GPS trackers have been installed on all waste vehicles. Real-time monitoring of these vehicles’ locations and collection routes is now visible on large screens at the Municipal Council, ensuring operational efficiency and accountability. The council reports a daily collection of 28 to 32 tons of garbage, a crucial step towards achieving the vision of ‘Green Tilaiya, Clean Tilaiya’. City Manager Lemanshu Kumar, Randhir Verma, Sanitation Inspector Raju Ram, and other staff members were present, emphasizing that cleanliness is a shared responsibility and urging citizens to cooperate.
