In Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, a shocking incident of violence unfolded as traffic police officers were attacked by auto-rickshaw drivers. The incident occurred in broad daylight at the Kathel Mod area under Nagri police station limits. A video of the assault, which has now gone viral on social media, shows the auto drivers repeatedly attacking the police personnel.
Reports indicate that the altercation involved three to four auto drivers who allegedly attacked the traffic police with stones. One officer, identified as Rohit Ganjhu, sustained a serious head injury in the attack. He was immediately rushed to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) hospital in Ranchi for treatment.
The auto drivers involved in the assault fled the scene. Police have launched a search operation to apprehend the perpetrators and are conducting raids. The Traffic SP of Ranchi has vowed to take strict action against those responsible for the assault. The investigation is being overseen by the in-charge of the Nagri police station.
The viral video shows the auto drivers aggressively assaulting the traffic police officers. The officers can be seen responding with batons, after which one of the officers was struck with a stone and fell to the ground.
