In Ranchi, Jharkhand, a truck carrying illegal sand collided with the vehicle of the Namkum police station’s officer-in-charge. The incident resulted in serious injuries to Namkum’s officer-in-charge, Manoj Kumar, and constable Amit Kumar. Both were rushed to a private hospital in Namkum with the assistance of local residents. After initial treatment, they were transferred to the Orchid Hospital in Ranchi due to the severity of their condition.

The incident caused a stir in the Ranchi district administration. Ranchi’s SSP cum DIG, Chandan Kumar Sinha, personally visited Orchid Hospital, where the injured officer-in-charge and constable were admitted. DIG Chandan Kumar Sinha inquired about the incident from the injured officer-in-charge, who recounted the details of the event.

The collision occurred while the officer-in-charge was patrolling the Ranchi-Tata road near Gadke village to manage traffic. A speeding truck laden with illegal sand, coming from Rampur, directly struck the officer-in-charge’s vehicle. The impact was so severe that the police vehicle overturned, resulting in serious injuries to the officer-in-charge and a constable. The truck involved in the collision also overturned. The truck driver fled the scene.

Local residents promptly took the officer-in-charge to the hospital for treatment. The officer-in-charge sustained severe head injuries, requiring more than ten stitches. The injured were admitted to a private hospital in Ranchi. This incident in the Namkum police station area of Ranchi follows a previous incident where anti-social elements and an angry mob attacked the Lapung police station when the police arrived to resolve a land dispute. In that attack, the Lapung police station in-charge, Santosh Kumar Yadav, and three other policemen were seriously injured.
