A shocking case has emerged from Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, where a woman and her lover are accused of murdering her husband. The incident occurred in the Pithoria police station area. The deceased, identified as Lumba Oraon, was found dead in the bushes outside his village, Rahra Monajara. The discovery of Lumba’s body sent shockwaves through the village.
Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene and took possession of the body, sending it for a post-mortem examination. A team was formed under the direction of Ranchi’s SSP, Chandaan Kumar Sinha, and Rural SP Praveen Pushkar to investigate the murder.
Investigations revealed that the victim’s wife, Geeta Devi, and her lover, Irfan Ansari, had been in an illicit relationship for eight years. When Lumba Oraon found out about Geeta’s affair, he objected, leading to a confrontation between him and Irfan Ansari. Driven by her love for Irfan, Geeta turned against her husband. To monitor his every move, Geeta and Irfan installed CCTV cameras in Lumba’s room and home.
For approximately a year and a half, Geeta and Irfan planned Lumba Oraon’s murder, even watching videos on YouTube for ideas. On August 20th, Geeta lured her husband to a location near Kanke’s BAU on the pretext of looking at a rental house. She then gave him a cold drink laced with 10 to 15 sleeping pills, followed by alcohol mixed with more sedatives. Subsequently, Geeta and Irfan took Lumba in an Omni car, and on the way, Irfan Ansari strangled Lumba Oraon in front of Geeta. They dumped his body in the bushes outside the village, intending to make it appear as though he had died from excessive drinking.
SSP cum DIG Chandaan Singh stated that the couple had been using YouTube videos to learn different methods of murder, with the aim of making the killing look like an accident. The investigation led to the arrest of Geeta Devi and Irfan Ansari. The police seized an Omni car, a motorcycle, a bottle of alcohol containing sleeping pills, and two empty cold drink bottles that were used to administer sleeping pills to Lumba.
