A shocking incident has come to light in Jharkhand’s Garhwa district, echoing the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case. A woman allegedly poisoned her husband to death just 30 days after their marriage. The incident has sent shockwaves through the village. Police, upon receiving the information, took possession of the man’s body and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The accused wife has been arrested and is being questioned. The incident has left everyone stunned.

Budhnath Singh, a resident of Bahokundar village in the Ranka police station area of Garhwa district, married Sunita Devi from a village in Chhattisgarh on May 11, 2025. Sunita disliked Budhnath and even loathed him. She returned to her parents’ home a week after the wedding. Despite being called back by her husband and in-laws, Sunita refused to return. A village panchayat was even held to resolve the matter.

On June 15, Budhnath went to his in-laws’ house. After much persuasion, he brought his wife, Sunita, back to his village, Bahokundar. Little did he know that he was returning home with his death. Upon returning, Sunita began to implement her plan. She sent her husband to the market to buy pesticide (poison) used for spraying on plants.

The husband, without any hesitation, bought the pesticide as instructed by his wife. Taking advantage of the opportunity, the wife mixed the pesticide (poison) into her husband’s dinner, which led to his death. The next morning, when the mother went to wake up her sons, she found her son dead. The news of the son’s death led to cries and chaos within the family and the village. The villagers took the accused daughter-in-law hostage and immediately informed the Ranka police station.

Upon arrival, the police took possession of the man’s body and sent it for a post-mortem. Simultaneously, the newlywed, Sunita Devi, was arrested. The police registered a case based on the victim’s family’s complaint and initiated an investigation into the matter.
