In the Latakandar village of the Shikaripara police station area in the Dumka district, a man’s tongue was cut off last night. The injured man was admitted to the Shikaripara Community Health Center for treatment. He was later referred for better medical care. However, the family decided to take him to West Bengal for treatment. The injured man is currently undergoing treatment in Bardhaman, West Bengal.

Villagers apprehended a woman in connection with the incident, tying her to a tree and informing the police. Upon receiving the information, the Shikaripara police reached the village, freed the woman, and brought her to the police station for questioning. Meanwhile, Laltu Sheikh’s wife, Jelenur Bibi, filed an application at the Shikaripara police station. In her application, she stated that her husband, Laltu Sheikh, had left home in the evening to go to Ganpura. When he did not return by 10 pm, they searched for him. Later, her husband returned home, unable to speak. Blood was flowing from his mouth. He indicated with gestures that Kalavati Murmu of Latakandar village and six to seven other unidentified people had locked him up and attempted to kill him. His hands and feet were tied, his tongue was cut, and he was severely beaten. Laltu Sheikh’s injured wife has filed an application demanding strict legal action against the accused. Station in-charge Amit Lakra said that the incident is being investigated. Efforts are being made to record the victim’s statement. Clarity will only be possible after the victim’s statement is recorded.
