Vijayawada’s political scene heated up as YSRCP stalwart Jogi Ramesh issued a grave warning against TDP heavyweight Nara Lokesh, declaring his family under imminent danger from the minister. In a press conference at his Ibrahimpatnam home, the ex-minister held Lokesh responsible for any future mishaps, citing a violent petrol bomb assault on Sunday.

The attack, allegedly masterminded by Lokesh and executed by MP Kesineni Chinni with TDP mobs, unfolded with police complicity, Ramesh charged. Activists stormed his residence, lobbing incendiaries to kill him and instill fear in his household. He portrayed this as a desperate bid by the ruling TDP to muzzle criticism of administrative lapses and cow BC representatives in opposition ranks.

Drawing on his faith in Venkateswara Swamy and allegiance to Jagan, Ramesh refused to be cowed by smears against his party chief. He highlighted the mobilization of hundreds for the raid, decrying it as an affront to democratic norms and backward classes’ rights.

Authorities have ignored his evidence and suspect lists, instead targeting him with FIRs. Police sided with assailants while his kin—father, wife, son—cowered indoors, he revealed. This pattern of selective enforcement raises alarms about law and order under TDP rule.

As Andhra braces for more confrontations, Ramesh’s allegations spotlight the perils opposition leaders endure, potentially galvanizing public discourse on governance and safety.
