The prolonged heatwave in the Kashmir Valley has been replaced by heavy rainfall, bringing much-needed relief from the scorching temperatures. However, this change has also triggered a series of cloudbursts and flash floods, causing significant damage in several areas. In Anantnag district, a cloudburst resulted in flash floods, inundating homes in Mantipora Chattergul. While there were no reported injuries, many houses suffered damage. Central Kashmir’s Budgam district also faced severe flooding, with villages like Raiyar Khansahib and Kangripora experiencing waterlogging and damage to infrastructure. Residents have expressed frustration over the perceived lack of administrative response. The Meteorological Department forecasts more unsettled weather in the coming days, prompting authorities to issue warnings and advisories.
