Tension gripped Vikas Nagar in Uttarakhand after an 18-year-old from Kashmir fell victim to a brutal attack, igniting calls for immediate justice. The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association wasted no time, bringing the issue to the notice of state DGP Deepam Seth, who responded decisively.

Police have registered an FIR under BNS sections 117(2) and 352. Key accused Sanjay Yadav has been detained, with probes ongoing into a second suspect’s role. Transparency and speed define the ongoing investigation, as confirmed by the DGP.

State police chief was unequivocal: communal discord or violence has no place in Uttarakhand. Full protection for Kashmiri students’ security and rights is non-negotiable. ‘Perpetrators will face the full force of law to prevent repeats,’ he stated firmly.

Hailing the rapid response, the students’ body stressed the incident’s gravity amid patterns of targeted aggression against Kashmiris earning an honest living. A fair, timely inquiry is essential for punishment and societal deterrence, they insisted.

Kashmiri communities in the state are on edge, prompting appeals for calm and unity. Law enforcement promises exhaustive scrutiny of all angles, ensuring accountability. This case tests Uttarakhand’s resolve in upholding harmony in a diverse society.
