Jammu and Kashmir’s rugged terrains of Kishtwar have once again become a battleground in the fight against terrorism. Under Operation Trash-1, a joint team of Indian Army’s White Knight Corps, J&K Police, and CRPF troops engaged militants in a high-stakes encounter in Dolgam on January 31 morning.

The operation, fueled by coordinated intelligence, has the terrorists trapped in a tight cordon. Gunfire erupted as forces closed in, and the exchange shows no signs of letting up. Social media updates from the Army highlight the renewed contact after days of meticulous tracking.

Prior to the clash, authorities preemptively suspended mobile internet in Dolgam and surrounding areas to hamper terrorist coordination and propaganda efforts.

Operation Trash-1 gained urgency following a fierce encounter on January 18 in the Sonari area near Chatru, where an elite paratrooper laid down his life in the line of duty. The Army paid solemn tribute to the martyr, vowing to honor his sacrifice by eradicating the terror threat.

For 12 grueling days, security personnel scoured the hills, undeterred by harsh conditions, until they cornered the militants in Dolgam. This ongoing operation underscores India’s unwavering commitment to rooting out terrorism from its borders, with every shot fired a step toward lasting security.
