    Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghosh has strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) fact-finding committee’s visit to Kolkata concerning the alleged gang rape of a law student. Ghosh labeled the visit as a ‘gimmick’ and ‘political tourism,’ questioning the BJP’s motives and selective outrage. He pointed out the BJP’s silence on similar crimes in other states and accused them of interfering with ongoing police investigations. He highlighted that the police had already taken action, making arrests and initiating investigations, while the victim’s family trusted the process. He also criticized the BJP’s decision to approach the High Court after the police’s prompt response, viewing it as a publicity stunt.
