Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani marked his 98th birthday on Saturday, drawing widespread praise and heartfelt wishes from across the political spectrum. Widely recognized as a pivotal figure in the BJP’s ascent to national prominence and a key architect of its organizational structure, Advani was also recently honored with the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, acknowledging his lifelong dedication to public service.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded Advani as a statesman with “towering vision and intellect,” emphasizing his profound contributions to India’s development and democratic landscape. Modi highlighted Advani’s embodiment of “selfless duty and steadfast principles,” wishing him continued good health and a long life.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah echoed these sentiments, describing Advani as an inspiration to millions and a leader whose sole focus has always been ‘Nation First.’ Shah credited Advani with strengthening the party nationwide and enhancing national security during his tenure as Home Minister.

BJP National President J.P. Nadda and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath both spoke of Advani’s integrity, patriotism, and dedication to strengthening the party. Adityanath specifically mentioned Advani’s life devoted to national welfare and his exemplary public service.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also extended their birthday greetings, recognizing Advani’s integrity, conviction, and lifelong service. Singh noted Advani’s visionary leadership and its impact on India’s democratic fabric, while Chouhan called him a symbol of service who nurtured the BJP’s growth.

Advani’s political journey, alongside Atal Bihari Vajpayee, was instrumental in co-founding the BJP after the Janata Party’s dissolution. His leadership of the 1990 Ram Janmabhoomi Rath Yatra remains a significant event in his career, galvanizing public sentiment and solidifying his national leadership. He also served as Deputy Prime Minister from 2002 to 2004, leaving an indelible mark on Indian politics through his organizational skills and commitment to democratic ideals.
