Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Calls for CBI Probe in Indore Couple’s Disappearance

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to initiate a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the case of Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam, an Indore couple who went missing in Shillong, Meghalaya. Raja was later found dead, while Sonam remains missing. The Chief Minister stated on social media that Madhya Pradesh stands with Sonam Raghuvanshi’s family during this difficult time. He mentioned he had discussed the matter with the Meghalaya Chief Minister and that senior Madhya Pradesh police officers are in contact with Meghalaya officials. The family of Raja Raghuvanshi had previously written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting a CBI investigation. Raja’s remains were discovered in a gorge near Cherrapunji. The couple was last seen on May 23 during their honeymoon. The family’s last communication with them was on the afternoon of May 23, with their phones later switched off. Raja’s brother, Vipul Raghuvanshi, has appealed for CBI involvement, expressing concerns about the progress of the Meghalaya police investigation. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has offered condolences and assured that all necessary actions will be taken.
