    West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee extended her greetings to the people of the state and the country on Hindi Diwas. She expressed her respect for all languages. On this occasion, she conveyed her wishes to all Hindi-speaking individuals. Mamata also emphasized that her government has taken several significant steps for the development and respect of Hindi and other languages. She mentioned that Hindi has been granted the status of an official language in areas where over 10 percent of the population speaks Hindi. Furthermore, recognition has been given to languages like Santhali, Kurukh, Kurmali, Nepali, Urdu, Rajbanshi, Kamtapuri, Odia, Punjabi, and Telugu. The state government is also working to promote the Sadri language. The Chief Minister also detailed the steps taken to strengthen Hindi language education in the state. A Hindi university has been established in Howrah. Hindi-medium degree colleges have been opened in Banarhat and Naxalbari. Postgraduate courses in Hindi have been introduced in several colleges, and higher secondary examination question papers are now available in Hindi. Additionally, students of Rabindra Mukta Vidyalaya are provided with the facility to take exams in Hindi. The state government has launched free social security schemes for Hindi-speaking people working in the unorganized sector. Excellent infrastructure has been created for the Gangasagar Mela. Moreover, a two-day government holiday has been declared in consideration of Chhath Puja.
