BJP spokesperson Shazia Ilmi dropped a bombshell accusation against the West Bengal government, charging it with patronizing illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. During a fiery press conference in the state capital, Ilmi laid bare what she described as a deliberate strategy by Mamata Banerjee to harbor infiltrators for electoral gains.

Drawing from data compiled by central agencies, Ilmi revealed alarming statistics: over 50,000 suspected infiltrators detected in the last two years alone, many of whom have been granted ration cards and voter IDs under TMC’s watch. ‘This is not governance; it’s treason,’ she thundered, highlighting villages in North 24 Parganas where Bengali Hindus are now minorities in their own homes.

Ilmi recounted harrowing stories from affected families, who claim police inaction when reporting land encroachments by newcomers. She accused the state police of being complicit, often classifying infiltrators as ‘refugees’ to avoid deportation. The leader also criticized Mamata’s opposition to the National Register of Citizens (NRC), calling it a smokescreen to protect her ‘imported vote bank.’

Responding to the TMC’s counter-narratives of inclusive development, Ilmi retorted that true inclusivity doesn’t mean rewarding law-breakers. She appealed to Bengal’s youth to rise against this ‘demographic invasion’ and support BJP’s vision of a secure border.

The exchange has ignited statewide debates, with opposition parties echoing Ilmi’s concerns. As border security remains a flashpoint, her bold statements could reshape the political landscape in the coming months.
