The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has squarely held the BJP and Congress responsible for the current state of India’s education system, which it deems as ruined. Former Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia stated that while nations globally are preparing children for the future, India is failing to provide even basic education that would make children employable in the AI economy. He attributed the deterioration to the policies and neglect of successive governments led by the BJP and Congress. Sisodia highlighted the AAP’s efforts to transform government schools where they hold power and their fight to prioritize education elsewhere. He announced that AAP Prabharis from 20 states have resolved to deploy 3,000 volunteers to inspect government schools nationwide and publicly expose the state of education. Sisodia criticized the Centre’s education policies, pointing out the vast gap between claims and ground realities. He cited the Jhalawar incident, where a school roof collapse resulted in the loss of eight children’s lives, as a symbol of the government’s lack of prioritization of fixing schools. He argued that these deaths occurred due to the government’s belief that it lacks funds to repair government schools. Sisodia also highlighted how India’s education system has turned into a crumbling ruin, pointing out that AAP holds both BJP and Congress responsible for this state. He emphasized that according to UDISE data, only a small percentage of government schools have computer labs and a low percentage of children can read or do basic maths. He further criticized successive governments for not allocating the necessary funds for education, despite the promises made in the New Education Policy. Sisodia drew comparisons with other countries, such as Japan and South Korea, which prioritize AI and robotics education, while India lags behind. He called for AI to be integrated into the curriculum and highlighted the failure to invest in teacher training. He concluded by emphasizing the poor condition of government schools nationwide, with nearly 90% in a state of disrepair, and announced AAP’s plan to launch a nationwide initiative to inspect schools and raise awareness about the issues.
