Prime Minister Narendra Modi used his popular radio show ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday to shine a light on the enduring cultural bridges between India and Malaysia. Broadcast from New Delhi on January 25, the program highlighted how Indians abroad are keeping festivals and traditions alive with great enthusiasm, no matter where they are.

Delving into specifics, PM Modi spoke about the robust Tamil education system in Malaysia, boasting more than 500 dedicated schools. These institutions impart Tamil language instruction alongside a full curriculum in the same medium, with similar dedication to Telugu, Punjabi, and other Indian tongues. This setup ensures the younger generation remains connected to their roots.

The Prime Minister extended kudos to the Malaysia India Heritage Society for their pivotal work in fortifying historical links. Their initiatives, including enlightening heritage walks that traverse culturally significant locations, play a crucial role in binding the two nations closer.

Turning to a recent cultural spectacle, PM Modi recounted the ‘Laal Paad Saree’ walk in Malaysia, which celebrated Bengal’s traditional saree. The event achieved a Guinness-style record in the Malaysian Book of Records for the highest participation in wearing this iconic attire. Odia dances and soulful Baul songs added to the festive vibe, captivating attendees and reinforcing cultural exchanges.

PM Modi’s reflections in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ not only honored the diaspora’s contributions but also reinforced the universal appeal of Indian heritage. As these stories unfold, they inspire a deeper appreciation for the threads that weave global Indian identity.
