Renu Katre, the 44-year-old wife of a Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) Sub-registrar, was discovered deceased at her home in Kandivali East. While initial assessments suggest suicide, Renu Katre’s family contests this, alleging suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

Renu had previously accused her husband of harassment. Her brother claims that she took her own life following a dispute on Saturday night, but believes it was a case of murder.

The Mumbai Police have registered a case under Section 108 of the BNS and initiated an investigation.

In a separate incident, a family of four in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district died by suicide. Police reported that the family members consumed sulfas tablets to end their lives. The victims were identified as Manohar Lodhi (45), his son Ankit (16), daughter Shivani (18), and grandmother Phulrani Lodhi (70). The incident took place at Tehar village. The reason behind the extreme step is under investigation.
