Tension flared in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal after a delivery boy died in a road accident. A crowd gathered at the scene and began protesting. During the demonstration, clashes erupted between the police and the protesters, involving stone-pelting. To control the situation, the police used tear gas and dispersed the demonstrators. The incident occurred between Wednesday and Thursday night near the Salt Lake area. According to eyewitnesses, the delivery boy was heading towards Salt Lake and had stopped at a signal when a four-wheeler hit him, causing his leg to get trapped in a rod. The car caught fire immediately after the impact, and the delivery boy, whose leg was stuck in the rod, was completely burned. No one at the scene offered assistance. They also alleged that the police fired tear gas to disperse the crowd that gathered after the accident. A police officer reported that upon arriving at the scene, they found a burning car and a deceased individual. They rescued other trapped passengers and sent them to the hospital. Despite the arrival of the fire brigade, some individuals continued to throw stones. Initially, no action was taken, but when they attempted to block the road, the police had to use tear gas to disperse the crowd.
