Prime Minister Narendra Modi commented on the recently concluded Monsoon Session, expressing concern over its low productivity. He reportedly criticized the Congress party’s leadership, alleging they hinder opportunities for younger MPs due to ‘insecurity.’ These remarks were made during a tea meeting in the Lok Sabha Speaker’s office. The session, which began on July 21st, concluded with both houses adjourning sine die before the scheduled end date. Despite 21 sittings over 32 days, the session saw numerous disruptions, primarily due to opposition protests regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. While 15 bills were passed, some were approved without adequate debate. Discussions on Operation Sindoor and the mission of astronaut Subhanshu Shulka were also cut short because of the disruptions.
