In a bold response to mounting family pleas, Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary summoned top officials Friday over the tragic death of a NEET student in Jehanabad. DGP Vinay Kumar and Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit faced intense scrutiny at the minister’s Patna residence, joined by key police brass including Patna IG Jitendra Rana and SSP Kartikeya Sharma.

The 19-year-old victim was discovered unconscious in her hostel room at Shambhu Girls Hostel. Despite medical efforts in Patna, she passed away from severe injuries. Forensic analysis confirmed sexual assault, contradicting early police claims of suicide and sparking fury from the bereaved parents.

The mother, in a heart-wrenching confrontation with the DGP, alleged widespread corruption: ‘Bribes have silenced officers from top to bottom.’ She rejected the suicide theory, insisting on a cover-up to bury evidence of assault. The family fears endless delays will deny them closure.

Choudhary, visibly moved by their story, immediately convened the high-stakes review. SIT investigations have nabbed six individuals, with probes inching toward conclusive evidence. Yet, report submission lags have eroded trust in law enforcement.

Public clamor intensifies as opposition parties seize on the mishandling. This incident exposes deep cracks in Bihar’s policing and student safety nets. With Choudhary vowing personal oversight, the coming days could herald accountability—or deepen despair. Justice hangs in the balance for a promising life cut short.
