A night curfew has been implemented in the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, specifically within a 2-kilometer radius of the international border. The District Magistrate of Samba issued the order to impose the curfew to support the operations of the Border Security Force (BSF) and to strengthen security measures in the area. This restriction will be in effect every night from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM for the next two months.

This area is known to be used by terrorists from Pakistan for infiltration into the Jammu region. The administration’s decision follows discussions with various stakeholders, emphasizing the need for enhanced security. The night curfew is intended to assist BSF operations and bolster the security infrastructure.

The curfew will be enforced daily from 10 PM to 5 AM, unless rescinded earlier. The order was made in coordination with security agencies to increase border surveillance and to regulate the movement of citizens at night, thereby preventing illegal activities.

Movement during the curfew will only be permitted for valid reasons, and individuals must present identification upon request by BSF or police personnel. Violators of the order will face legal action. A night curfew was previously in place in this area, which borders Pakistan, until the first week of January this year.

In a separate incident, two rusted mortar shells were discovered in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday along the Line of Control (LoC). Security forces neutralized the shells. The shells were found during a routine patrol near the forward posts on the Line of Control in the Balnoi area of the Mendhar belt. The area was subsequently cordoned off, and the bomb disposal squad was called in. The bomb disposal squad arrived at the scene and safely disposed of the shells.
