    A tragic incident in Karnataka’s Hassan district resulted in the deaths of at least nine people, with numerous others injured, when a tanker lorry collided with a Ganesh immersion procession on Friday night. The accident occurred in Mosale Hosahalli village during the final day of Chaturthi celebrations. According to reports, the incident took place between 8 PM and 8:45 PM. The driver of the lorry was also injured in the crash. Among the deceased are six villagers and three engineering students. The Karnataka government has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the families of each of the deceased. The incident has drawn expressions of grief from various figures, including Chief Minister Siddaramiah and former CM HD Kumaraswamy, who have offered condolences and prayers for the victims and their families.
