National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval held discussions with Russia’s Secretary of the Security Council Sergey Shoigu in Moscow on August 7. The meeting focused on strategies to enhance the strategic partnership between the two nations. The Russian Embassy in India shared the news via social media, stating that the officials explored ways to reinforce the special and privileged strategic partnership. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin received Doval at the Kremlin, as reported by the Russian Embassy in India. During his engagements, NSA Doval indicated that the dates for President Putin’s visit to India are being finalized, though no specific timeframe has been set. Doval emphasized the significance of the long-standing and special relationship between India and Russia, highlighting the value of their strategic partnership and the impact of high-level engagements. He expressed excitement about President Putin’s upcoming visit, stating that such summit meetings have historically been pivotal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Russia in July of the previous year, during which he and President Putin acknowledged the unique nature of their time-tested relationship, built on trust, mutual understanding, and strategic alignment. A joint statement following their meeting underscored the positive assessment of the multifaceted, mutually beneficial India-Russia relations, spanning political, strategic, military, security, trade, investment, energy, science, technology, nuclear, space, cultural, educational, and humanitarian cooperation. Both sides are actively exploring new avenues for collaboration while strengthening ties in traditional areas. The 11th Session of the India-Russia Working Group on Modernization and Industrial Cooperation convened in the national capital on Wednesday within the framework of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation.
