A prominent business family in Delhi is reeling from a tragedy after the daughter-in-law of pan masala tycoon Kamal Kishore Chaurasia was discovered deceased in their South Delhi home. Deepti Chaurasia, 40, was found at the family’s Vasant Vihar residence on Tuesday afternoon under circumstances that have led police to suspect suicide. Initial reports indicate she may have died by hanging, using a ‘dupatta’.
Her husband, Harpreet Chaurasia, son of the renowned Kamla Pasand and Rajshree brand owner, reportedly found her and immediately transported her to Safdarjung Hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival. Deepti and Harpreet were married in 2010 and have a 14-year-old son.
A note was reportedly found in Deepti’s room, suggesting she held no one responsible for her death. “If there is no love and trust in a relationship, what is the point of life?” is a quote attributed to the message. Police are investigating the possibility that family-related issues may have played a role in the distressing circumstances.
The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, which will be conducted by a team of doctors at Safdarjung Hospital to determine the definitive cause of death. While an official statement from the police is pending, an investigation is actively underway.
