During the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament in 2025, the opposition INDIA bloc is protesting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. Congress MP Manickam Tagore filed an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha to address concerns about the SIR process, particularly in relation to the upcoming Assembly elections. Tagore described the SIR as a potential ‘mass disenfranchisement’ of 65 lakh voters, alleging an assault on the constitution and democracy. The INDIA bloc MPs plan to stage a protest in Parliament demanding a discussion on the matter in both Houses. This demonstration follows the Election Commission’s publication of the draft electoral rolls for Bihar.
