A devastating incident in Punjab’s Patiala district resulted in a double suicide, born from a tragic misunderstanding. Gurmeet Singh, 42, took his own life on July 3rd, convinced his wife, Manpreet Kaur, had left him and their three children. Unbeknownst to him, Manpreet had already died by suicide a few days prior, reportedly due to ongoing marital conflicts. She had left home on June 29th after a heated argument, taking their children to a Gurdwara before disappearing. Gurmeet was found dead at home while Manpreet’s body was recovered from a canal. This tragedy has left their children orphaned and sent shockwaves through the community. In a separate incident in Jharkhand, a young couple was also found dead in a forest, possibly after a symbolic union. Authorities are investigating both cases.
