A new elevated road in Patna, designed to alleviate traffic congestion and improve the city’s transportation infrastructure, was inaugurated on June 16th. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar presided over the inauguration of the Mithapur-Mahuli elevated road. This new route is expected to significantly ease traffic for the residents of southern Patna and improve connectivity to and from various districts in South Bihar, saving commuters valuable time and reducing the impact of traffic jams.

The Mithapur-Mahuli-Punpun project, which includes this elevated road, has been constructed from Bhupatipur to Punpun (NH-22) with a total investment of Rs 1400 crore. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen, along with other prominent leaders including Ravi Shankar Prasad, the Lok Sabha member from Patna Sahib, and Mrs. Misa Bharti, the MP from the Pataliputra constituency.

The initial phase of the elevated road, spanning from Sipara to Mahuli, is now complete. The journey between these points is anticipated to take only 5-6 minutes, a significant reduction compared to previous travel times. The Mithapur-Mahuli elevated road project is being executed in two phases. The second phase involves the construction of a 2.10 km elevated road from Mithapur to Sipara and a 2.20 km four-lane road from Mahuli to Punpun. According to the Road Construction Department, the elevated road from Mithapur to Sipara is expected to be completed by November of this year.
