Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome from the Indian diaspora upon his arrival in Tianjin, China. He landed at Binhai International Airport for a two-day official visit. This marks his first trip to China since the Galwan Valley clashes in 2020. Modi will participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. He is expected to hold bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The SCO summit will review the organization’s achievements and adopt a ten-year development strategy. Over 20 heads of state and 10 leaders from international organizations are anticipated to attend. India has been a member of the SCO since 2017, having been an observer since 2005, and held the chair of the SCO Council of Heads of Government in 2020 and of the SCO Council of Heads of State from 2022 to 2023.
