PM Modi will be visiting Punjab on September 9th to assess the flood-affected regions, with a focus on Gurdaspur. This visit is anticipated with optimism by the people of Punjab, as there is potential for the Prime Minister to announce a significant relief package. The possibility of an economic package or compensation for flood victims is under consideration.

Residents have been evacuated and relocated to safer areas. The floods have caused widespread damage, destroying over 2 lakh hectares of crops. Media reports suggest the state has already incurred losses exceeding 10,000 crore.
The Punjab government has declared the state a disaster zone and has requested a 60,000 crore fund from the central government. During PM Modi’s visit, there’s an expectation that a relief package will be announced.
Multiple districts in Punjab are grappling with the impact of the floods. The army is actively involved in rescue and relief operations. Furthermore, Bollywood actor Salman Khan, alongside other actors, has extended support by adopting villages to aid those affected by the floods.
