Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Manipur on September 13, marking his first visit to the state since the outbreak of violence between the Kuki and Meitei communities in 2023. In Churachandpur, he was greeted with traditional gifts, including Zomie and Thadou Kuki shawls, and a portrait. Following the inauguration of the Bairabi-Sairang New Rail line in Mizoram, Modi flagged off three new express trains. Subsequently, he laid the foundation stone for development projects in Churachandpur, with a total value exceeding Rs 7,300 crore. These projects encompass urban road improvements, drainage, highway projects, and the Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) project. Addressing the public, the Prime Minister lauded the courage of the people of Manipur, acknowledging the challenges faced. He shared his observations from the road, highlighting the resilience of the youth and elderly. Modi expressed his confidence that a new era of hope and trust is emerging in Manipur after meeting with those affected by the violence.
