Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Bihar and West Bengal today, with the agenda including the inauguration and foundation stone laying of several development projects. The total value of these projects is estimated to be around Rs 18,200 crore.

In Bihar, the Prime Minister will be in Gaya at approximately 11 am, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects worth approximately Rs 13,000 crore. The events will include the flagging off of two trains and an address to the public. A significant part of the Bihar visit is the inauguration of the Auntha-Simaria bridge over the Ganga River. This bridge, spanning 8.15 km, is situated on NH-31 and includes a six-lane bridge section of 1.86 km. The total cost of the bridge project exceeds Rs 1,870 crore. The bridge is designed to enhance connectivity by connecting Mokama in Patna to Begusarai, thereby reducing the necessity for heavy vehicles to take a detour of over 100 km due to the older two-lane rail-road bridge, ‘Rajendra Setu’.

In West Bengal, at about 4:15 PM, the Prime Minister will inaugurate new Metro train sections in Kolkata and experience a Metro ride from JC Road Metro Station to Jai Hind Airport. Additionally, he will participate in the foundation stone laying and inauguration of projects valued at over Rs 5,200 crore. A public meeting is also scheduled as part of the West Bengal visit.

The new infrastructure initiatives in both states are aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving connectivity, underscoring the Prime Minister’s focus on infrastructure development.
