In a candid interview, BJP parliamentarian Praveen Khandelwal defended PM Narendra Modi’s bold claim in Parliament that the Gandhi family appropriated Mahatma Gandhi’s surname. Labeling it the family’s ‘gravest misunderstanding,’ Khandelwal highlighted Congress’s pattern of historical revisionism and identity appropriation.
‘Picking up a surname from somewhere and prefixing it to your name, then claiming lineage— that’s the Gandhi family’s fundamental error,’ Khandelwal told IANS. He fully endorsed Modi’s statement, underscoring its accuracy amid ongoing political debates.
Shifting focus to Telangana, Khandelwal slammed CM Revanth Reddy’s leadership style. ‘His governance lacks propriety; his rhetoric reveals a low political caliber,’ he observed. The MP attributed Telangana’s public frustration to the administration’s inability to uphold standards.
On the proposed film ‘Ghuskhor Pandit’ starring Manoj Bajpayee, Khandelwal urged caution. ‘Announcements alone aren’t enough. Await the plot, title justification, and certification. Genuine, certified content deserves no meddling,’ he advised.
The Meghalaya coal mine disaster drew Khandelwal’s sorrow. He extended sympathies, pushed for a serious investigation, justice for culprits, and fair compensation to affected families.
Addressing Owaisi’s provocative comments, Khandelwal reiterated Assam CM Sarma’s explanation of ‘Mia.’ ‘Owaisi manufactures controversies for attention. He should prioritize Hyderabadi progress over baseless politicking,’ Khandelwal advised in closing.
