Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to undertake a significant state visit to India on December 4th and 5th, at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This highly anticipated visit will culminate in the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit, a crucial platform for high-level discussions between the two leaders. Kremlin foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov described the upcoming trip as “extremely grand” and expected to be “fruitful in every sense,” highlighting active preparations underway with Indian counterparts.

The summit aims to deepen the long-standing Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia. Both nations are diligently working to finalize a range of bilateral agreements, initiatives, and projects. These will enhance cooperation across multiple domains, including economic, defense, and cultural spheres. Recent high-level interactions, such as External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s visit to Moscow, have paved the way for these potential breakthroughs.

Discussions are also slated to cover pressing global and regional issues, including the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, Middle East tensions, and the situation in Afghanistan. India reiterated its support for peace efforts and an early cessation of conflict, emphasizing the importance of international stability. This annual summit serves as a vital mechanism for reviewing the full spectrum of bilateral ties and reinforcing the enduring relationship between the two countries, even amidst evolving geopolitical landscapes.
