Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, launched a strong critique against the Election Commission (EC) on Monday. Addressing a gathering at a ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Gaya, he declared that the EC’s alleged ‘theft’ would be uncovered in every state. Gandhi stated that the EC is accountable, and that their ‘theft’ has been detected. He added that the entire country will demand accountability from the EC, and that his party will expose the alleged wrongdoing in every Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha constituency. He also referenced a perceived ‘special package’ from the EC for Bihar. Gandhi highlighted discrepancies in past elections, specifically mentioning the Maharashtra elections where, between the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha polls, the Election Commission purportedly added one crore voters. He pointed out that while his party’s alliance won the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP alliance won the state polls, with the same vote count for his party’s alliance. Gandhi suggested that the BJP won the elections because of the new voters and accused them of stealing elections in Maharashtra and Haryana.
