During a press conference focused on the SIR policy, Rahul Gandhi expressed skepticism regarding the BJP’s consistent ability to avoid the effects of anti-incumbency, a phenomenon that typically impacts every political party in a democratic system. The MP from Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, has used the hashtag #VoteChori to draw attention to the SIR policy. In his address, Gandhi highlighted that while anti-incumbency affects all parties, the BJP seems immune to it. He cited discrepancies in election results, particularly in Haryana and Madhya Pradesh, where outcomes sharply contradicted pre-election polls. He pointed to internal polling data that mirrored the concerns raised by opinion polls, suggesting a pattern of unexpected results. He also made specific accusations about the Maharashtra elections, alleging irregularities such as the addition of a significant number of voters within a short period and a surge in voter turnout after 5 PM, which he claims is suspicious. He stated that the party found a large difference between the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha, adding one crore new voters to the game. Gandhi also criticized the Election Commission’s refusal to provide voter lists and the decision to destroy CCTV footage, adding to his suspicions of collusion.
