Indian Railways has significantly ramped up its services to accommodate a surge in passengers, a consequence of widespread IndiGo flight cancellations. A total of 116 additional coaches have been added across 37 trains, operating over 114 enhanced trips nationwide. This strategic move aims to provide much-needed relief to travelers facing travel disruptions. The Southern Railway has led these capacity enhancements, augmenting 18 trains with extra chair car and sleeper class coaches on high-demand routes. These additions, effective from December 6, 2025, substantially boost travel options in the southern region. Northern Railway follows suit, incorporating 3AC and chair car coaches into eight trains to meet the heavy travel demand in northern corridors. Western Railway has also responded by adding 3AC and 2AC coaches to four key trains, facilitating travel from western regions to the national capital. Furthermore, special train services are in operation, including a Gorakhpur-Anand Vihar Terminal special running multiple trips and a New Delhi-Jammu Vande Bharat special. Additional superfast specials are also connecting New Delhi with Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram, ensuring extensive connectivity for travelers across the country.
