In a pointed critique, Raj Bhushan Chaudhary stated that the citizens of India have effectively educated the Congress party on the historicity of Lord Ram. Chaudhary noted that the long-standing legal and cultural battles have culminated in a public consensus that refuses to accept Ram as an ‘imaginary’ character. He cited archaeological findings and the overwhelming emotion during the Ram Mandir consecration as evidence that the public sentiment is firmly rooted in tradition. According to Chaudhary, the ‘Ram Bhakti’ seen across the country is a democratic response to those who questioned the roots of Indian civilization.
