Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, is reeling from a gruesome murder where a 23-year-old bride orchestrated her husband’s killing with her lover’s gang. The plot, hatched over secret meetings, ended in a savage beating and strangulation on a lonely village path.

Ashish Kumar, 27, married Anjali just three months ago in an arranged union her family forced despite her ongoing affair with Sanjay (25). The schoolteacher was trying to build a life together when betrayal struck.

Denied permission to study locally and stay near Sanjay, Anjali plotted revenge. She met her lover at her parents’ house 16 days prior, mapping out the attack. On January 30 night, post-dinner, she lured Ashish to the spot near Rawla police station.

Waiting in ambush were Sanjay, Rohit (20), and Badal (20). They bashed Ashish’s skull with wood, then finished him off by throttling with a muffler after he clung to life. The autopsy revealed fatal head trauma and suffocation.

Cleverly, Anjali gave the killers Ashish’s mobile and her jewelry to fake a theft. Feigning unconsciousness beside the corpse, she was discovered and taken to hospital alongside his body, which was pronounced dead.

Four arrests followed swift police action: Anjali, Sanjay, and the two aides. SP Amrita Duhan detailed the custody remands—five days for the men, two for the wife—as questioning intensifies.

Reminiscent of the Raja Raghuvanshi case and Indore tragedy, this highlights dangers of coerced marriages and extramarital affairs turning deadly. Community leaders call for better counseling and awareness.
