    A 55-year-old woman in the Jhadol block of Udaipur district, Rajasthan, has given birth to her 17th child. Rekha Kalbelia, the mother, delivered the baby at the Community Health Centre. Of her 17 children, five did not survive infancy. The family now has 12 surviving children, including seven sons and five daughters. The couple’s financial situation is challenging, with the husband working as a scrap dealer. Some of their children are married, and the couple are already grandparents. The family has faced economic struggles, having had to borrow money for their children’s weddings. None of Rekha’s children have ever attended school.
