Ramgarh district police delivered a decisive blow to an interstate robbery gang Thursday night, unraveling a criminal empire that spanned multiple states. Five hardened criminals were apprehended, along with a cache of weapons and pilfered items, marking one of the year’s biggest successes against organized crime in Jharkhand.

The raid was meticulously planned after months of surveillance. Intelligence inputs pointed to the gang’s base in a remote village, where they stockpiled loot from high-profile dacoities. Officers swooped in under cover of darkness, catching the suspects off-guard during a strategy session.

‘Their operations were highly coordinated, targeting lone travelers and small businesses at night,’ explained investigating officer Manoj Verma. The gang employed decoy vehicles and spotters to evade law enforcement, but this time, technology turned the tide with GPS tracking and drone reconnaissance.

Recovered items included loaded revolvers, stolen gold jewelry valued at over 5 lakhs, and documents linking them to crimes in neighboring districts. The mastermind, a fugitive named Ravi Kushwaha, confessed to leading a 15-member team with tentacles reaching into Odisha.

Community leaders expressed relief, noting a sharp rise in such incidents post-pandemic. ‘Finally, some respite for us common folk,’ said a local shopkeeper whose business was hit twice.

Police are now expanding the probe, raiding associate hideouts and freezing bank accounts. This crackdown underscores Jharkhand’s renewed push for inter-state police coordination, promising safer roads and markets ahead.
