Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate three metro projects in Kolkata. Although West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was invited to the inauguration, she is not expected to attend. Rail Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu commented on the situation, stating that the metro will continue to operate regardless of her presence. According to available information, the Chief Minister will not be present at the event.

Bittu highlighted the significance of connecting Punjab and Bengal, emphasizing the unity of the country and the historical importance of the region. He also mentioned the upcoming conclusion of the parliamentary session and the Prime Minister’s inauguration of projects worth ₹3900 crore. He noted that the public in West Bengal had long requested these projects, and the Prime Minister will be flagging off the Orange, Yellow, and Green Lines. Bittu stressed the importance of all states progressing together to achieve a developed India, regardless of the ruling government or chief minister.

He emphasized that these projects will improve the lives of the general public and increase their convenience. He also suggested that West Bengal MPs could propose ten similar projects. Bittu expressed that the Prime Minister is concerned about the people of West Bengal and will inaugurate the metro extension, covering over 13 kilometers, with further expansion planned in six months. He highlighted the benefits of the metro, such as reducing travel time to the airport and providing a safe and affordable mode of transport.

Bittu added that political conflicts often harm the state and urged the government to work with the Prime Minister on significant projects rather than engaging in political battles. He asserted that the metro will operate regardless of the Chief Minister’s presence and that work must continue. He noted the cultural programs and performances planned for the event, featuring international artists. He stressed that the Prime Minister represents the entire nation.
