As India gears up for its 75th Republic Day, a shadow of vigilance looms large over its borders. Security apparatus nationwide is on maximum alert, with particular scrutiny on international frontiers abutting Punjab, Jammu-Kashmir, and Rajasthan. The trigger: mounting intelligence on drone-enabled smuggling and potential assaults carrying weapons or explosives.

Over the past months, multiple cases of drones ferrying arms, ammo, and drugs across these lines have been intercepted, prompting a zero-tolerance stance. Agencies have been instructed to maintain razor-sharp oversight on all drone movements, fearing sophisticated attacks timed for the national holiday.

Beyond drones, concerns extend to para-gliders and hang-gliders, which terror networks like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Sikh militants might exploit for infiltration or payload drops. Confirmed intelligence on equipment acquisitions by these groups underscores the gravity of the situation. To counter this, drone-jamming technologies, enhanced radar networks, and increased border patrols—especially nocturnal ones—are now operational.

In Delhi, preemptive action includes an FIR by the capital’s police special cell against overseas separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun for inciting unrest ahead of January 26. This comprehensive security matrix reflects lessons from past threats, aiming to safeguard parades, public gatherings, and the spirit of unity. With Republic Day symbolizing resilience, India’s guardians stand ready to preserve peace.
