Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has expressed grave concern over US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose a 25% tariff on Indian exports. Tharoor stated that this move could severely damage India’s trade with America, potentially leading to its ‘destruction.’ He highlighted that additional penalties for India’s oil and gas purchases from Russia could raise the total tariffs to 35-45%, with the possibility of even higher penalties, up to 100%, further jeopardizing trade relations. Tharoor emphasized the importance of ongoing trade negotiations and the need for the US to consider India’s interests, while also noting that India’s tariffs on American goods are not excessively high.
