Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has firmly dismissed speculation about a change in leadership within the state government, asserting that he will complete his full term in office. This comes amidst growing rumors and the surfacing of a controversial video featuring Congress MLA BR Patil, which has ignited political debate. Patil’s remarks, captured in a leaked phone call, have intensified the scrutiny of internal dynamics within the Karnataka Congress. While Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has maintained a stance of unity within the party, Patil’s comments suggest a different reality.

When questioned about his commitment to a five-year term, Siddaramaiah responded with conviction, stating, “Yes, I will. Why do you have a doubt?” He emphasized that his government is stable and will last the entire term, dismissing the allegations as “lies.” The Chief Minister also explained that a recent cabinet meeting in Bengaluru was one in a series of divisional meetings planned across Karnataka. He highlighted the ongoing series of meetings in various regions to ensure effective governance.

The video, recorded during Patil’s visit to Mandya, shows him suggesting that Siddaramaiah’s rise to the Chief Minister position was due to good fortune. Patil claimed to have facilitated Siddaramaiah’s introduction to CPP Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. Patil stated, “Siddaramaiah hit a lottery. I was the one who introduced him to Sonia Gandhi. His fortunes were good and he became the Chief Minister.”

Earlier, Minister KN Rajanna had sparked controversy by hinting at multiple power centers within the state Congress. He noted the potential for increased internal tensions due to the proliferation of such centers. Siddaramaiah, however, dismissed Rajanna’s remarks and maintained that there were no internal disputes within the party, advising the public to disregard Rajanna’s comments.
