Rumors of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, entering politics have intensified, sparked by a public gathering planned for Sunday evening. Posters advertising the ‘Nishant Samvad’ (Nishant Dialogue) were prominently displayed around the JDU office, the party led by the longest-serving Chief Minister. Nishant Kumar, the sole son of the JDU supremo, hasn’t hidden his desire for his father to serve another term as Chief Minister, while avoiding direct answers regarding his own political aspirations.

The posters indicate Nishant Kumar will “share his views on the welfare schemes launched by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.” Notably, young state leaders, like Tejashwi Yadav of the RJD and Union Minister Chirag Paswan, despite their ideological differences, have stated they would “welcome” his political entry if the Chief Minister’s reclusive son makes a “personal” decision to do so.

However, many veteran observers remain skeptical that Nitish Kumar, who prides himself on avoiding “dynasty politics,” will allow his son to enter public life, at least not until he himself retires from politics.
